IT Support
What Managed IT Support Actually Includes
Every IT company in Adelaide claims to offer "managed IT support", but what's inside the box varies enormously. If you're comparing providers, here's what a genuine managed service should include.
The non-negotiables
Unlimited helpdesk access: your team should be able to call or email for help without watching a billing clock. Per-incident pricing discourages people from reporting small problems — which then become big ones.
Proactive monitoring: software continually watching your servers, network and computers, flagging failing hard drives, missed backups and security alerts before they become outages.
Patching and updates: operating systems and key applications kept current, on a schedule, without your staff lifting a finger.
Security baseline: managed antivirus or endpoint protection, multi-factor authentication enforcement, and alignment with frameworks like the Essential Eight.
Backup management: not just running backups, but regularly test-restoring them so you know they work.
The questions worth asking
Before signing with any provider, ask: What's the guaranteed response time, and is it in the contract? Is support local, or routed offshore? Are there lock-in periods? What happens to our data and documentation if we leave?
Why "no lock-in contracts" matters
A provider confident in their service doesn't need to trap you. Month-to-month agreements keep the incentive where it belongs: on keeping you happy, not keeping you stuck.
The bottom line: managed IT should feel like having an IT department down the hall — one that prevents problems instead of just reacting to them. If you'd like to see what that looks like for your business, book a free consultation with our Adelaide team.
